SP leader files case against Raj Thackeray in Uttar Pradesh court

Lucknow, Nov 21 (IANS) Accusing Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) president Raj Thackeray and four legislators of his party of degrading the national language Hindi and the Indian Constitution, an application seeking action against them was moved Saturday at a court in Uttar Pradesh's Sultanpur district, officials said.

Initiating the proceedings over the application filed by Farooq Ghosi, a leader of the Samajwadi Party's (SP) youth wing of Maharashtra, additional chief judicial magistrate (ACJM-III) Santosh Maurya fixed Dec 22 as the next date of hearing in the case, they added.

Ghosi, a native of Sultanpur district, told IANS: "In the application I have sought action against Raj Thackeray and MLAs Rajesh Banjle, Ram Kadam, Basant Geete and Shishir Shinde under multiple sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).

"The five are a threat to our national integrity. Their assault on our MLA Abu Azmi for taking oath in Hindi in Maharashtra Vidhan Sabha recently cannot be justified."
